In support of Filipino athletes, telco giant PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) recently unveiled a world-class center for gymnasts.
The 2,300-square meter facility in Intramuros, Manila will serve as a training center for national athletes in artistic, aerobic, and trampoline gymnastics.
PLDT will also build a tall tent outside the said training center for the rhythmic gymnastics team.
The training center will also house the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP). It will have conference rooms, lounge, lockers, coaches rooms, a clinic, a cafe, and a meditation area for the athletes.
PLDT chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said that these investments are apt for the national athletes’ priceless victories.
“Our investments in the country’s sports development bear fruit when we witness our athletes give their best in the global arena,” he said.
“This facility is just one of our many efforts to ensure that Filipino athletes get the best support that we can possibly provide as they bring glory to our country,” added PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications president and CEP Alfredo S. Panlilio.
Present during the inauguration of the facility were key people from PLDT, Smart, the International Gymnastics Federation, Philippine Sports Commission, Japanese Embassy, International Olympic Committee, and world gymnastics champion Carlos Yulo.
