Smart Communications, Inc. has partnered with the local government of Marikina City to roll out reliable and secure Smart WiFi in high foot-traffic locations in the said city.
Marikeños can now access Smart WiFi in Marikina’s barangay halls, City Hall, Freedom Park, and Public Market, in addition to the Smart WiFi facilities already working in selected Marikina barangays.
Moreover, Smart has also built 5G base stations all over the said city to help drive local economic growth and development.
“I strongly believe that a digital government is a better government,” said Marikina Mayor Marcelino R. Teodoro, who regarded the program as their first city-wide WiFi project.
He added that Marikina’s digitization initiatives cover the management of critical and priority programs, particularly in disaster and health crisis management.
“We believe that through collaborations like this, and our shared purpose of nation-building powered by good governance, we can overcome this crisis,” said Smart senior vice president and head of consumer sales Alex O. Caeg.
He added that Smart is rolling out additional Smart WiFi access points in support of RA No. 10929 or the “Free Internet Access in Public Places Act.”
