LGUs approve more than 3,600 telco tower permits — DILG

Local government units (LGUs) all over the Philippines have approved more than 3,600 permits and clearances filed by 10 telecommunications companies to build cell towers, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

According to DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, a total of 3,669 telecommunications tower permits have been accepted while 860 pending applications are being expedited for approval, as of October 7.

Año said that the DILG hastens the approval process for the improvement of communications in the country and to help students with online learning.

The DILG, Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), and other national government agencies have been streamlining the documentary requirements and processing time for building permit applications on shared passive telecommunications tower infrastructure, following an earlier order from President Rodrigo Duterte to accelerate the approval of applications for telco towers.
